The vendor of this 1970 Lancia Fulvia is the Bangers & Cash Restoring Classics team. They write:
We bought this Italian stallion in May 2025. We were young, carefree & dreaming of an Italian summer romance. But we may have had some rose-tinted Guccis on when it came to auction day…
Our Fulvia was a South African import and came with a long list of jobs that had already been done to the car. It certainly looked nice and shiny, and the auction listing had those fateful words ‘it’s a weekend's work’. We were hooked…and FMW 930J was ours for £9400.
We sent the car up to our trusty friends at Classic Car Workshop for Kel Muers and his team to finish off said ‘weekend work’. But that casual ‘weekend work’ quickly turned into a rather frustrating, unromantic, less-bella more-hella Italian heartbreak.
The car gave us quite a few headaches, but we did what we could, whilst trying to stick to what was left of the budget, and have turned out a very usable summer coupe.
Work completed included:
- Resolving serious wiring issues - there were lots of wires, but very few actually connected to anything!
- Brakes have been taken apart and rebuilt
- New (to us) carbs. The ones on it originally were incorrect - we took the car to a rolling road for testing, and they were not able to be set up to work correctly, so we replaced them with ones better suited to the car (these are 2nd hand)
- Ant-roll bar rubbers
- Dashboard has been revarnished and lacquered
- We repainted the front end of the car and blended it in with the rest of it (it previously was various shades of red)
- Painted the underneath
- New bumper from Italy (this alone cost us nearly £600!)
- New spark plugs and leads
- Full service
The car has a clean MOT until June 2027.
Be aware this car has not undergone a full nut & bolt restoration and is many, many weekends from concourse- though it has had a good recommission and service.
PLEASE NOTE: We take great pride in restoring our vehicles, but they are classics; they will not be immaculate, and they will no doubt need ongoing maintenance and repair. We suggest you make your own checks first.
