The vendor has provided the model of the vehicle to be a Bedford PCV Van Float. Please confirm upon your own inspection.
The vendor has provided the following:
Reg No. LNN 158
No Keys
I purchased this vehicle in 1997, and it has been in dry storage ever since
The engine turns over, but we have never spent time trying to see the engine runs
One - Bedford PCV Ice Cream Van, First registered 28th March 1950 - I have owned the Vehicle since 7 March 1997
The ice cream van is a model PC Bedford, built in 1949 and registered late March 1950
The vehicle was supplied as a van to the coach builder (unknown), and the hand built body was built onto the chassis
My understanding is that the Ministry of Supply controlled the release of new vehicles to trades and professions
Ice cream vendors were at the bottom of the list during post-war austerity and rationing, and were allowed to purchase a new vehicle as of the end of November 1949
Horace and Godfrey Scott must have immediately ordered this van when allowed
This model is a pre-war design, which was made from 1938 to 1952
Scott's Ices of Redcliffe Street, Sutton-In-Ashfield, operated this vehicle until retirement in 1968, their small factory still exists and is now an office
A historic trust acquired the vehicle and sold it to me in 1996, and I have dry stored it ever since
