Description:
The Crested Eagle was introduced by ALVIS in 1933 to compete with other Marques in the Luxury Class for Owner-Driven saloons or the Limousine market.
The Crested Eagle was the first British production car to have independent front suspension. The lubrication of the chassis is by the Luvax “one shot” system and four “D.W.S “ jacks are fitted.
ALVIS produced a total of 602 chassis that were mainly bodied by custom coachbuilders such as Charlesworth Bodies Ltd. the Mayfair Carriage Company.
The Crested Eagle offered for sale was built in 1936 as a model TF 18/82 Light Saloon and retains the original Engine number is 13647, the Original Chassis number is 13197 and the Body number is 13933. The car was exported in 1936 to Australia by the firm of Charley and Lord to the special order of Mr James M. Farden 0f Sydney. The engine is the same as used in the ALVIS Speed 20 and is fitted with a four-speed synchromesh gearbox.
Having spent most of its life in Australia, the car has been left unmolested throughout its life and is in Original condition having had only essential maintenance and repairs. After being repatriated to the UK in 1983 it has been maintained by the well-known ALVIS specialists Earley Engineering.
