The vendor has provided the following:

• Tractor built in Basildon - day shift 5th September 1972
• Destination overseas, due to a shortage of tractors, following the Ford strike of the 70's, it remained in the UK
• There were a lot of 4000 & 5000 brought down to the West Country with high-dust air cleaners and round wings
• Local Ford dealers fitted Duncan cabs or roll bars
• Ford 5000 was bought by a local farmer who was a best friend of my late father-in-law. I bought it when the farmer retired in 2000
• Its main job was driving a New Holland double chop forage harvester
• In the mid-80s, he needed more power, so he went to the Ford dealer and bought a new complete Ford 6610 engine. His son-in-law worked for a Ford dealer and fitted the engine for him, which gave him more power in later years, and spent the rest of his life on a muck spreader
• When bought, the wings and foot plates rusted out, so they were replaced with new ones
• We managed to find a 1972 5000 engine, which was two months younger than the original engine
• Completely rebuilt injector pump - injectors, clutch plate, and bearing
• Front axle pin and bushing
• New gasket
• Oil seals
• New burgess exhaust
• Top and bottom front grill
• New lights etc
• Scraped the car because it had rusted out
• Put the tractor back to how it left the factory, round wings, high bowl air cleaner, booked to go to a show in 2001
• In 2002 went to Tractor World at Malvern
• We won best Ford in show, won lots of 1st and 2nd prizes over the years
• Been featured in Classic Tractor in July 2004
• Front cover of Ford tractor book by Robert N Pripps, on old Pond DVD in 2009
• Fitted with a power steering kit 4-5 years ago, so he could do road runs
• I have always polished the tractor twice a year with a good polish with carnauba wax in
• Downsizing due to ill health
• The clock is reading 7000 plus hours is not correct the original clock was reading 5230 but the glass was cracked & fuel gauge did not work & very faded full of dust, replace with a good second had one which has done more hours
