October 2024, and in a bike shed full of macho machines we clapped eyes on what some may describe as the runt of the litter. It had us at the heartstrings, so we stuck up our hand and it was ours for less than £1000. Not bad for a pedigree these days.
We managed to fit the bike into the boot of our car and take it down the road to Pocklington, for father and son team Adrian & Bob Dawson to have a fettle.
Until our ownership, the bike had been in one family since it was bought new from Armstrongs in Middlesborough. It was bought by a father for his daughter’s 17th birthday and had been in her possession for over 30 years…genuinely, one careful lady owner.
Everything on the bike was original, though we’re not sure how much that counts when the air filter was in a carrier bag dangling from the handlebars, so there was some TLC required to bring the little motor back up to full speed.
Work includes:
This bike is now ready to hit the off road - though there is no guarantee of placing first in a motocross event..
PLEASE NOTE: We take great pride in restoring our vehicles but they are classics, they will not be immaculate and they will no doubt need ongoing maintenance and repair. We suggest you make your own checks first.
