Current V5 present. Paperwork includes Sunbeam Tiger Owners Club information, parts brochures, MOT certificates, old insurance documents, a new battery invoice and invoices.
The vendor has provided the model of the vehicle to be a 1967 Sunbeam Tiger Evocation, please confirm upon your own inspection.
The vendor has provided the following:
Sunbeam Tiger Evocation, or Alger. I have owned this car since 2009 and have thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. It has been a labour of love as it has been subject to an extensive rebuild, which, although very rewarding, has consumed huge amounts of both time and cash, but hey ho, that’s classics for you!!
When I purchased the car, it had been partially converted to a Tiger from an Alpine, but to be honest, very poorly; consequently, I set about a total rebuild. Below is a list of the work done. I should say that all this has been done by a number of appropriate auto engineers and inspected
Chassis members were all renewed where appropriate, and tunnels were created to accommodate the exhaust
New suspension all round, including poly bushes
New steering rack and column
New steering joints
New Moto-Lita Cobra-style wheel
Anti-Trap Bars
Panhard Rod
Schimitar rear axle with original 2.8 Salisbury diff purchased from Tim Boxal
New and balanced prop shaft
New brake servo
Rebuilt brakes
Standard 302 engine
Brand new Edelbrock 4 pot Carburettor with performance manifold
Silicon hoses throughout
Large Core radiator
New “Kenlow” programmable fan
New soft top on reconditioned frame
I have not had to do very much to the body work, it’s in good presentable condition, but with some of the inevitable knocks and scrapes, as you would expect
The chrome is in good nick, but there is some pitting – this is not a show pony, I use the car frequently and drive it in a spirited fashion!!
The interior is worn to my liking, for some it may be too much patina, but things like seat frames are all solid, I'd so a reapholsery shouldn’t prove too difficult
I have the correct and cherished sun visors, but I don’t fit them as I’m 6.2” and can’t see out of the windscreen with them on
The carpet set is new, but not of great quality
The body is Zircotech heat-sealed lined and has good quality underlay, which helps enormously with the heat transmission and makes the summers bearable
It’s running on 13” Wolfrace slots. I have the spinners but need to do a bit of adjustment to fit them. I think they’re fun, particularly with the white walls
Things left to finish, but I’m unlikely to get around to:
Instruments need rebuilding or replacing with digital alternatives, which is what I would do
Hard Top is solid, but has been neglected and will need restoring, but it’s good to know there is one
I would run it on 15” minilights with some sticky Toyo tyres for a bit of back lane fun
So, I want to be completely clear, this is NOT an original Sunbeam Tiger, it is, however, well thought through fun classic for probably the same money as an Alpine
I am a long standing member of the STOC and I would not want anyone to think that I am looking to pass this over as an original Tiger, however I’ve had fantastic fun getting this far and I’m now looking to move it on as I have other projects to finish off on both 4 wheels and 2
If you are looking at this and not a member of the STOC, I would just like to say that even though this is not an original Tiger, please don’t feel intimidated. I’ve been around classic vehicles most of my life and I have found, without exception, all the club members to be hugely friendly and very happy to share their knowledge and assist in any way they can
They are a very active club with great events, which are well supported, and so there’s a lifestyle around these cars as well as the enjoyment of ownership
Parts are easy to come by, reasonably priced and plentiful. I’ve always used Sunbeam Spares and they are great. All the engine bits are basic American V8 Ford, and Real Steel are brilliant
I don’t really want to think about how much I’ve spent on my car, to be honest, it’s not that important. I’m realistic about value and would like to achieve high teens or low twenties for it. If I don’t, then I’m very happy to hang onto it and enjoy
If you’ve got this far, then thanks for reading, and please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions, and I’ll try to answer them as best and as quickly as I can
