The vendor has provided the following:

The vendor of this 1959 Renault Dauphine is the Bangers & Cash Restoring Classics team. They write:

We bought this ‘not-so-French-but-British-built’ fancy back in June of 2024. It was a really sweet car and Derek had become very fond of it.

So we whisked it down to the South of, well, Lincoln, and placed it into the careful hands of Duncan and Tony Topliss of Retro Renault Services. They’re both Dauphine super fans and already knew more about our car than we did before we arrived at their door.

It has been meticulously cared for whilst in their hands and Duncan has provided us with the list of works undertaken on the vehicle.

  • Engine fully stripped, chemically cleaned block and all oil galleries
  • Re-ground crankshaft
  • New upgrade piston/liner kit
  • New oil pump
  • New timing gear
  • Camshaft fast road profile (larger clearances than in the book)
  • New water distribution tube in cylinder head. Head skimmed and pressure tested
  • New water pump
  • Re-core radiator and heater matrix
  • New water hoses
  • New hot air heater hose from front to back on car
  • Rebuilt starter motor and Dynamo
  • New engine mounts
  • Complete new clutch and release bearing
  • Fully refurbished carburettor
  • New coil, ignition system, fuel pump, and new fuel tank
  • All new brake cylinders, re-lined brake shoes all round, and brake hoses. Brake hubs all cleaned and rebuilt, new front inner and outer wheel bearings fitted
  • New old stock headlights fitted and front indicators, original style Lucas 488 rear lights fitted and correct Lucas rear reflectors (glass lenses don’t have reflectors in as original)
  • New old stock air intake grills and sill trims
  • All new window rubber, channeling, and door seal rubbers fitted
  • New old stock alloy trim under front number plate
  • New old stock bonnet badge fitted
  • New old stock engine bay rubbers, B post door rubber bungs, and also in the luggage bay
  • New 6v 88Ah classic-looking battery fitted
  • New brake reservoir bottle complete (cap, rubber nipple, and steel insert)
  • New steering wheel flex coupling installed
  • New front and rear windscreen rubbers fitted
  • Road wheels (including spare wheel) have been blasted, painted in correct colour, and fitted with new Michelin ZX135 tyres and Michelin airstop tubes, and all balanced up
  • The car was stripped of its panels, front door corners repaired, car was completely painted inside and out but we have managed to keep the original paint code that was painted on my the Renault factory in Acton so it has the original paint on front bulkhead and we also kept the original service stickers inside the engine bay lid with original paint (stickers have slightly suffered due to masking off but it was still the correct decision to keep them on)
  • Dashboard has also been fully repainted - there is a plaque that is in the glovebox that was glued onto the dashboard from when the car attended Renault UK’s anniversary meeting in 1982

The car boasts a clean MOT until June 2026.

PLEASE NOTE: We take great pride in restoring our cars, but they are classics; they will not be immaculate, and they will no doubt need ongoing maintenance and repair. We suggest you make your own checks first.
