The vendor has provided the following:
1991 3.0 Senator with a documented provenance and a comprehensive history file including:
Originally leased by Hobbs Holdings Ltd from Avon Motor Centre Vauxhall main Dealer for a Company Director, Vera Mary Hobbs (original reg J5 VMH) at a cost of £24,098.66. At the end of the lease, the business retained the car and registered it in the business name (2 previous registered keepers). Unusually, Vera selected wool upholstery (at no cost option) as she didn't like leather, but she rarely drove herself. When I collected the car, it was handed over by the gardener, who told me that he had mainly driven Vera whenever she wanted to go anywhere. When Vera passed away, the family kept the car for approximately 20 years for sentimental reasons until the garage it was kept in was to be sold, but they retained the original private registration, and J216 AUX was applied. Though the car wasn't in daily use, the family continued to maintain the car with regular servicing and the annual MOT, confirming the super low mileage. I collected the car from Bristol in December 2023, and it drove perfectly back to West Yorkshire without any issues. I had my trusted garage go through the car and complete an MOT and unfortunately it was identified that despite dry storage, there was some corrosion hiding behind the plastic sill trims so along with a few other minor details, all the corrosion was cut out and replaced with new metal at a cost of £1,870 in August 2024. As the car is a 34-year-old and a metallic champagne silver/gold, I took the Senator to a specialist body shop that I trust to expertly paint the new sills and blend them invisibly with the existing paint at a further cost of £564.
I had intended to keep the Senator for much longer, but the restoration of my 1983 XR3i is hemorrhaging cash, so regretfully, it is time for the Senator to find a new home.
