The vendor has provided the following;
This is what the previous owner put in the jargon from the last sale (November 2023):
In 1991, I decided I was going to keep the car, so I installed a new factory Ford engine. This was again done by a Ford main dealership at a cost of £1,400
In 2008, the Cortina was subject to a ground-up restoration over a period of approximately 6 years, with no expense spared
The engine had a complete overhaul with block rebore new pistons fitted crankshaft reground new camshaft and rockers & valve oil seals (The camshaft kit is not on the engine's overall invoice as it was fitted after the engine was reinstated back into the car because the engineer stated the camshaft kit already fitted to the engine was in excellent condition having done very little mileage and in his opinion did not need renewing but I thought it best practice to fit another completely new full camshaft kit) was cylinder head was skimmed with hardened valve seats for unleaded petrol
A new twin choke webber carburetor was fitted (please see invoice), water pumps, a new timing belt, and all engine ancillaries are also new, alternator, starter motor, battery, etc
The car has only travelled 461 miles since the restoration
The car was also fitted with a stainless steel exhaust system some years ago
The sports wheels were refurbished, and new tyres fitted with original Ford security wheel locks. Any panels needing replacement are Genuine Ford
The Cortina has had all the box sections and the inside of all the doors ( Doors are fitted with new moisture barriers) thoroughly treated with Bilt Hamber Cavity Wax, and the underbody has been painted the same colour as the car and has been treated with underbody wax, not undersealed, so nothing is covered up and you can see all the metal
The car has recently been taken to a well-known car restoration company for their appraisal (at present restoring two Mercedes Pagondas and a 1929 Alfa Romeo, the latter car being worth over one million pounds). When the restoration was completed, the speedometer was zeroed, and the car has done 461 miles since then
The highest bid at the end of the auction will be submitted to the vendor for their consideration.
