It’s a Super not a Cooper! Introduced in September 1961 the Mini Super and Cooper were introduced to run alongside the Standard and De Luxe models. The Super and Cooper were identical apart from the Super having a standard 850cc engine, drum front brakes and a unique front grill. The Mini Super was discontinued in October 1962. This Super was built in June 1962.
In 2013 the engine was replaced with a 1275 engine sourced from a 1968 MG1300 and fitted with Cooper S brakes. The original engine is still in the owner's possession and available by separate negotiation.
In 2020 the car had a full bodywork and paint refurbishment costing £6000. Originality was very important and apart from the engine for the fun factor, new recliner seats (Newton Commercial) for comfort, brakes for safety! and mini lite wheels..we preferred them to steels! It is as near original spec as it could be.
Full history since approx 2005, tons of paperwork photos and receipts.
