The vendor has provide the following:

The vendor of this 1999 Volkswagen Polo 1.4 is the Bangers & Cash Restoring Classics team. They write:

If you’ve ever watched an episode of Restoring Classics, you’ll be sure to know that some (or most) of our restos buys quickly get out of hand and there’s significantly more work to do than we first expected.

Well, in February 2026 we set sights on this. A near immaculate 1999 VW Polo with just over 13k miles on the clock. How could we possibly go wrong?

It was ours for £3,400 and one of the production team was actually able to drive it to our chosen garage for them to admire our purchase. The car drove exactly how you’d expect it to - without a hitch. We were even able to tune into Smooth FM on its DAB radio to enhance the already smooth ride.

The only fault we could pick out was the temperature dial for the coolant was not working, so we had found something to investigate!

The team at BSmart Autocentre in Leeds were in awe - the underside of the car was still in wondrous condition with bodywork and interior to match.

Work completed on the car:

  • We replaced the sensor for the coolant temperature to ensure this was now working as it should. However we discovered it is the actual gauge itself on the clock which is faulty. The only way to fix this was to change the clocks - we opted not to do this as it would replace the odometer too. Rest assured the sensor is working and it is all running at the correct temp
  • Coolant change
  • Fix to the driver’s window as this was not working (been stripped down and the wire repaired)
  • Exterior polish

This may well be one of the tidiest cars we’ve ever bought for the programme and we’ll be sad to see it go!

It has had a fresh MOT valid until March 2027

PLEASE NOTE: We take great pride in restoring our vehicles but they are classics, they will not be immaculate and they will no doubt need ongoing maintenance and repair. We suggest you make your own checks first.
