Provenance

Bought in 1966 by my grandfather (second hand – the first owner bought it for his wife but she wanted something smaller, so he sold it back to the garage after a few months with 6,000 miles on the clock). The car has been in my family ever since and my father wrote down a pretty comprehensive list of every time the car has been taken to a garage for any reason (from the date my grandfather acquired it). The car has been garaged all its life.

Sale includes

The car has 77,920 miles on the clock and comes with a number of spare parts which my father picked up over the years, including:

  • spare sills;
  • a rear exhaust;
  • front windscreen;
  • rear windscreen; and
  • a front bumper for a Mark I Sceptre (but we have the overriders).

Additional details

In addition to having the bills and service history documents for the car since 1966, my father’s notes state, inter alia:

  • 1983: cylinder head gasket replaced.
  • 1987: radiator grille replaced; automatic gearbox reconditioned and car re-sprayed (same colour).
  • 1994: rebuilt carburettor fitted.
  • 1997: front bumper re-chromed; engine removed and rebuilt plus a new starter-motor fitted; cylinders re-bored, crank reground and new pistons fitted.
  • 2004: new universal joints fitted.
