Selling your Classic Vehicle

If you are thinking about selling your classic car or motorbike then we would love to hear from you. Please send us information and photos on an email to entries@mathewsons.co.uk (remember to include your contact details). 

We will ask you to complete a Vehicle Entry Form once you have spoken to us and agreed a reserve price for your classic.

Please submit your entries early to ensure maximum advertisement and viewings.

 

Selling your Cherished Number Plate

We are running monthly online auctions for your cherished number plates! These auctions will end on the last Friday of each month.

If you are interested in selling your number plate through this shop, please send us an email to admin@mathewsons.co.uk

We're not able to value number plates so please have a reserve in mind. You must send us the original retention document prior to the auction ending and sections 1 and 6 must be signed.

For sales £20,001 and above – the first £20,000 is charged commission at 7.5% + VAT, the remaining balance is charged at 5% + VAT.

Yes! As well as operating our own fleet of vehicle transporters, we work closely with a number of trusted contractors, so between us we operate 7 days a week, 364 days a year! 

Consequently, we can collect/deliver anything anywhere! Well, almost.

Collections for an auction are carried out at a reduced rate, making the process as economical and as stress free as possible. 

We can also assist with the delivery of your purchase.

Please speak with the main office who will be able to assist with vehicle movements.

Yes, our entry fees are as follows:

Vehicles, including motorbikes and trailers - £40 + VAT
Memorabilia, including bicycles - £5 + VAT
Vehicle Registration Numbers - £10 + VAT

 

If the highest bid is close to your reserve, we will give you a ring during the auction to offer you the highest offer. You can choose to accept or decline the offer.

If your vehicle doesn’t sell, it will be entered into a timed auction. This is the customer's chance to bid on something they may have missed on Auction Day. 

We aim to pay our vendors within 15 working days. If you have provided your bank details to the office, we will arrange a BACS transfer, or we will send a cheque in the post.

If you put a reserve on your vehicle and the bidding passed this figure, your vehicle will have sold. The results from the auction will be available after the auction on our website.

The Wednesday Auction will start at 10am for Lots 1 – 350.

The Thursday Auction will start at 10am for Lots 351 onwards.

Auction lots can be viewed at our Thornton Le Dale site and our Pickering site until 5pm on the Tuesday prior to the auction. Please see the opening times on our Contact Us page.

Yes & No! Any lots that don't sell in our Classic Vehicle & Memorabilia Auctions will be entered into an online timed auction during the week following the auction.

 

Yes. All our vehicle results can be viewed on the Glenmarch website. Glenmarch are the largest online free-to-access resource for classic and collector car auction markets. Glenmarch provides information on worldwide classic car auctions, including collector cars, modern classics plus veteran and vintage car auctions. Glenmarch Database.
