Current V5 present. Paperwork includes a letter from Peugeot Talbot Motor Company and correspondence from the Department of Transport.
The vendor has provided the following:
This exceptional Sunbeam Lotus was 1st registered on 1st Feb 1983
Owned by me since 1984
Only 7,800 miles from new. (Although unknown on current engine)
It has been stored in an insulated garage since 1984, when it was fully wax-oiled, and remains totally rust-free. An exceptional bodyshell.
It retains its original style: Marchal spotlights & covers, front & rear overriders
The immaculate interior cloth remains unmarked & shows no signs of sagging or stretching
Unmarked Alloys with new Avon Turbo Speed tyres
In 1984, a replacement fully reconditioned SKIP BROWN engine was fitted at a cost of £2500 following an engine theft
The time has come for the car to be used & fully appreciated by a new owner
Conclusion:
An extremely good bodyshell and exceptional interior
Although some parts on the car are not the original factory-fitted items, the engine, for example, the quality of the bodyshell and interior certainly suggests that the mileage could well be correct. (Please undertake your own enquiries)
These two areas are crucial, as replication can be both extremely time-consuming and unbelievably expensive... if you can find someone skilled enough to undertake such a task!
Consequently, we feel that the car's 'USP' revolves around the fantastic shell and interior. This basis is ultra important. Furthermore, we'd like to think that with a workshop recommission you would have a Lotus Sunbeam that drives as one did back in the 1980's.... After all, that's what we're all looking for!
With a nice engine compartment restoration (A simple and rewarding project), you would certainly have a Sunbeam Lotus to not only be very proud of, but also an enjoyable iconic classiC
