1960s Radio Controlled Model Vintage Cabin Cruiser (length 42”)

We get some fascinating lots here at Mathewsons - not all come with wheels. Back in our March auction a wooden model launch boat arrived, very much in need of some TLC. It didn’t float our boat but the Bangers and Cash Restoration team felt it was worth a punt, won the bidding and it’s now presented back in auction post their restoration work.

The Bangers & Cash Restoration Team write:

We spotted this Aerokits Sea Queen model cruiser and thought it had great potential. Model enthusiast and restorer Carl Barlow has spent just shy of four months carefully rebuilding and painting the boat from the keel up, on our behalf. He fitted a radio controlled electric motor and created what we think is a beautiful and usable boat.

Work done includes:

Hull and superstructure treated with a sanding sealer to protect the wood.

Old propshaft replaced with a new metric stainless steel shaft and brass 60mm prop.

Fully coated in fine body filler and rubbed down to give a glass finish.

Primed with 4 coats of primer, 4 coats of gloss white with a deep burgundy lower hull with pinstripe.

Superstructure deck painted in light gray with white cabin sides and burgundy top decks. Window frames picked out in matt black with tinted windows.

New brass rudder.

Fully radio controlled with the latest digital equipment with servo and heavy duty motor and 12v heavy duty battery - comes with battery charger.

New 2 channel transmitter and working navigation lights.

Fully fitted out with brass horns, bollards, anchor and rope, search light and flag poles with red ensign and Aerokits bow flag.

Lastly, it sits on a hand made wooden cradle for display.

Original boat design/plan is included.

The power needs to be turned on at the controller first, then inside the boat, and when powering off it needs to be the opposite way round.
