Minerva Rally Timer – Twin Mechanical Dashboard Stopwatch Set Period competition timing equipment from one of Switzerland’s great chronograph specialists. A rare and highly desirable set of twin Minerva mechanical rally timers, mounted on their original metal dashboard plate, dating from circa 1970. Each timer measures 51 mm and is fitted with the robust and competition-grade Valjoux 340 mechanical chronograph movement, featuring 60 seconds, 60 minutes, and 12-hour recording. These timers were designed specifically for rally and endurance competition, where accurate timekeeping by the co-driver was essential for managing time controls and regularity sections. The set represents a correct period configuration, allowing two independent timers to be run simultaneously — typically one as a master time reference and the other for section or interval timing. This twin-timer layout was widely used in historic rallying and long-distance events during the 1960s and 1970s. Both timers are Minerva signed, with matching style dials and hands, and retain their original plastic crystals. The cases are individually numbered (Case nos. 113793 and 114629), consistent with Minerva’s professional instrument production of the period. Condition is very good and honest, with light patina consistent with age and use. Both timers are fully functional, including start, stop, and reset. Overall plate dimensions are approximately 125 × 65 mm. A genuine piece of period motorsport timing equipment, equally suited to installation in a classic rally car or display within a serious automobilia collection.
