The vendor of this 1969 Morris Mini Cooper 998 MkII is the Bangers & Cash Restoring Classics team. They write:
YRE 210H, finished in Island Blue and Snowberry White, caught our eye way back in November 2021. So we could class it as one of our longest restorations to date. However, we really only kick started the project in October 2023 and it has been lovingly looked after by the expert team at Mini Sport in Lancashire for the last 7 months.
The car had clearly lived a life and had undergone years of at-home fixes to keep it on the road. For this one, we’ve not stopped short of anything and it’s had a full restoration. Some would argue it’s virtually a new Mini Cooper, but we have tried hard not to lose its originality, whilst returning it to the road in exceptional condition.
Extensive work has been done to the car, but key jobs were…
Bodyshell: This the original with as much as possible being retained during the restoration.
Engine and gearbox unit: Original but fully remanufactured to the original specification.
Brakes and suspension: All new with powder coated subframes, as the originals were too far past their best for restoration.
Wiring loom: Also brand new as the original has been altered too many times throughout its previous life to be rendered safe.
Interior: The seats are the original but recovered but the interior panels and carpet are all new.
Speedo & clocks: Original but sympathetically restored but not to look new.
The car now boasts a valid MOT until April 2025 with no advisories and Mini Sport have kindly offered for the new owner to bring the car back to them after 100 miles and they will do various checks to the car, free of charge.
Please Note: We take great pride in restoring our vehicles but they are classics and will no doubt have imperfections. Please do your own checks before bidding.
