The Citroen 2CV holds its own in any ultimate classic collection.

Produced for more than 40 years, it was originally designed to be an alternative to a French

farmer’s horse and cart. In later years it became a trendy must-have, gracing pavements

outside North London boulangeries … one even went on to star in the Bond film For Your Eyes

Only.

Our Dolly had no glamorous past but looked a well-cared-for example.

It started and ticked over (reluctantly) and the bodywork seemed in decent shape.

Unsurprisingly, once we had our 2CV up on the ramp we realised our bill was going to be bigger

than expected.

Work carried out at the Classic Car Workshop includes:

* Engine removal, new piston rings and gaskets

* Kingpins replaced

* Windscreen out, welded around frame and repainted

* Paint touch-ins near side windows

* Wheels and bumpers shot blasted, painted

* Body polish

* New aerial!

Our 2CV now comes with 12 months MOT - ready for what’s left of the British summer.
