The vendor has provided the following:
Vanden Plas Princess MkIV 1958 DS7 saloon is a rare and unique luxury Austin car with only 199 ever made
All coaches were built by hand at the Vanden Plas works in Kingsbury, London, and this is one of the few that have survived
This is a 67-year-old car that has a genuine mileage of just over 16 thousand miles on the clock and was originally purchased by the London County Council as a mayoral limo
It was refurbished in the early 1980's, including a replacement engine and a four-speed manual gearbox, when it was taken out of service and used as a family car
This Princess was last owned by the same family for 42 years and kept dry stored over that time, and had not been on the road for the last 28 years
Recently got this classic 1950's saloon back up and running by replacing the fuel pump with a new one, plus rebuilding the master brake cylinder, and have been around the block, but it needs a little more work to make it fully roadworthy, or it may be worth considering a light refurbishment
The vehicle is simple to maintain as it is based on the 1950’s Austin Princess limousine chassis and running gear, with most of the mechanical parts from the BMC parts catalogues of the day
Each Vanden Plas of that era was carefully constructed by hand to a high standard with a kind of bespoke craftsmanship usually associated with a Rolls or Bentley motorcar
