The vendor has provided the following:

The vendor of this 1991 Fiat 126 BIS is the Bangers & Cash Restoring Classics team. They write:

We first saw this car on its arrival at Mathewsons in March 2025 & were filming it to be part of the main series ‘Bangers & Cash’. But as soon as we saw it coming off the back of the trailer and had a chat with the previous owner, we were reeled in by its cuteness & needed our name on the V5. The bidding commenced and J98 KBJ was ours for £2500.

The Classic Car Workshop team had recently finished titivating our teeny Bedford Rascal Campervan, so we thought - what could we send them which is even smaller? Enter the Fiat 126…

As with most of our vehicles, the little car was a lot worse than we first thought. It had rotten areas, some interesting wiring in the dash, crumbling window frames and an engine in need of a good clean up.

Its arrival provoked lots of laughs from Kel and the team (with some sobs from us), and quite like our Restoring Classics budget their creativity soon ran away with them. The required welding made a repaint a must, so a colour change was popped into the suggestions box.

Work includes (but not limited to):

  • Full body strip down - rusty bits chopped out and new solid metal welded in
  • Engine strip down, re gasketed, new seats and valves and clean up
  • New window frames fabricated plus new rubbers
  • Solved numerous electrical and wiring issues
  • Refurbed wheels and added new tyres
  • Lowering springs have been added
  • Full repaint…in white, with Italian tri-colour stripes added to the side

The little car has cost a ‘not-so-little’ amount to restore. But the end result is a very fun one and hopefully it will bring the next owner a lot of joy.

PLEASE NOTE: We take great pride in restoring our vehicles but they are classics, they will not be immaculate and they will no doubt need ongoing maintenance and repair. We suggest you make your own checks first.
