The vendor of this 1999 Morgan Plus 8 is the Bangers & Cash Restoring Classics team. They write:

Back in May 2025, we thought we bought a ‘nowt to do’ quick flip for the programme, which we’d be able to sell perhaps in the following auction after giving it a good clean. V80 ART looked like a masterpiece - some minor bodywork issues and a little dull on some of the brightwork, but nothing which we couldn’t quickly solve for some loose change.

And then we put it on a ramp.

Our ‘let’s give it a polish and service’ quickly revealed itself to be a fire-hazard with no means of braking (among other horrors)…we were left with an estimate of over £10k for necessary works.

The team down at Melvyn Rutter’s near Bishops Stortford know Morgans inside out and were the chosen custodians of our 4.6 Plus 8. They set to work on turning V80 ART back into the piece of art it once was…

Work completed includes:

  • New engine valley gasket
  • Brand new aluminium radiator
  • New front brake callipers
  • Overhaul of front brake pads and discs
  • Rear brakes unbinded and drums cleaned
  • Brake and clutch fluid replaced
  • Indicators/brake lights/reverse lights all fixed
  • Rear shock absorbers renewed
  • Rear axle cleaned down and painted
  • Front suspension shock absorber bushes renewed
  • New battery
  • New rear wheel cylinders (both were seized)
  • Messy front wiring was all tidied and made safe!
  • Various small cracks and dents have been repaired
  • Repair to the front and rear wings, where there was corrosion
  • New water pump fitted
  • New door mirrors fitted
  • New steering gaiter fitted
  • All exhaust rubber mountings replaced
  • The interior has been given a good scrub!

V80 ART now holds a clean MOT until January 2027.

PLEASE NOTE: We take great pride in restoring our vehicles, but they are classics; they will not be immaculate, and they will no doubt need ongoing maintenance and repair. We suggest you make your own checks first.

The highest bid at the end of the auction will be submitted to the vendor for their consideration.
