The vendor of this 1988 Nissan Bluebird is the Bangers & Cash Restoring Classics team. They write:

We bought this not-quite-blue-but-green 1988 Nissan Bluebird from Mathewsons in November 2025.

On team restos we’re often accused of ‘taking a restoration too far’, which we will hold our hands up and say we have fallen foul of on a handful of occasions. But there are some cars which we like to think we do just the right amount of work to, and this is one of them!

This Japanese marvel was actually built just up the road in Sunderland. The Bluebird was the first car to roll off the production line when the UK’s Nissan plant opened its doors in 1986. Since E200 FFE was built it has remained in one family (father & son) and has done fewer than 25k miles.

Whilst under our ownership we had mechanics Jonny May & Mark Juggins on the case to give this car a good once over and do just the right amount of work.

That work included:

• Removal of the tow bar
• Dent removal where necessary
• Paint repair to f/n/s arch
• Machine polish
• Steering rack was refurbed by SSL Wakefield and refitted
• 4 new tyres & wheels realigned
• New plates as originals were cracked (these were not on at the time of Paul’s video recording)
• New wipers

The Bluebird was then flown back to its birth place in the North East of England to be reunited with some of the staff who were there when it was built. In a factory now full of Qashqais and Leafs it received a very welcomed return!

It has a clean MOT until June 2027 and is now ready to be under the wing of a new owner.
