The vendor has provided the following:
Back in 1972 very few customers ordered their new Capri with a 1300 engine, the majority opted for a larger engine, so even 50+ years ago 1300 Capris were not that common. Then, when a 1300 Capri had been resold a few times, it often ended up with a young owner who replaced the engine with a more powerful one, making 1300 Capris even less common than they already were, KML590K however, still has its original, 58bhp 1300cc Ford Kent crossflow engine.
The previous owner told me that KML590K's first owner was a farmer who wasn't bothered about performance, he just wanted a stylish, economical car. He used it for about 10 or so years then parked it in one of his barns together with his other retired cars, and there it stayed for best part of two decades slowly corroding away. Following the first owner's death, KML 590K was found under a pile of hay, straw and other accumulated rubbish. By this time it was in a very sorry state and only fit for the scrapyard, so a scrap merchant was asked to collect it and dispose of it.
Fortunately, the scrap merchant thought it was worth saving and sold it to a local garage owner who became it's second owner. His plan was to restore it, but before he'd made a start on the restoration, the gentleman I bought it from saw it in the garage owner's yard, made an offer and bought it, thus becoming its third owner.
Over a period of years owner number three stripped KML 590K down to its bare body shell, had new wings and various other body panels repaired or replaced and had it repainted in its original Daytona Yellow. He then, over many evenings and weekends, refitted everything to the fully restored bodyshell using all the original parts which were repaired, replaced or reconditioned whenever necessary. Once the restoration was complete he took it to various car shows and only decided to sell it following an accident at work which left him unable to drive a manual car.
After becoming the fourth owner I've had the interior tidied up with a few seat repairs, some repairs to the instrument panel and parcel shelves, the fitting of inertia reel seat belts plus some tidying up under the bonnet, other than that most of what you see today is the result of all the hard work of the previous owner.
