Current V5 present. Paperwork includes a previous V5, tax documents, newspaper clippings, service handbook, instructions book and a history of Rolls Royce book; the car is featured in a superb hard backed addition of the history of Rolls Royce and Bentley motorcars.

The vendor has provided the following:

Spirit of Ecstasy bonnet ornament included in the sale

42KR still wears its original Barker Pulman Sports Limousine body & it was originally specified for Continental Touring. The car is exceptionally original as was verified to me personally by Tom Clarke (Rolls Royce historian) and by a picture of the actual car when new found by Tom as it was featured in the The Motor Magazine in 1929 including rare (on a Rolls Royce) Marchal Headlights, Bumpers and even the pillar light looks the same.

I have owned it for 4 years having been previously stored as an exhibit in the Martigny Motor Museum in Switzerland for around 30 years. It was purchased by Bugatti collector Charles Pochon in 1963 and was apparently driven back to Switzerland by him prior to being restored over there sometime in the 1980's, which probably explains the Bugatti blue colour having been originally all black. Previously purchased by Dr MJ Russell from Performance Cars West London for £150 in 1955. Dr Russell kept it until the sale to Mr Pochon. Nothing much is currently known of its previous history other than that the original owner, Captain A C Bowles was implicated in a huge Share Fraud when this car was new. There are various old black & white pictures of the in the file.

It has now been fully re-commissioned and has covered around 5,000 trouble free miles never failing to proceed. It has been well and truly 'over oiled' to ensure it bedded back in well. Engine oil changed 8 times, Gearbox, Differential & Coolant 3 times! It starts instantly hot and cold if the correct procedure is followed. Compressions were checked in November 2024 and all six were found to be within 5 psi of each other & correct spec. It runs and drives very well. Magneto is not in use as electronic ignition is fitted which works really well so never bothered to get it repaired. It keeps really cool having been sat idling in a traffic jam for around 45 minutes on a really hot summer day last year. Good oil pressure. Gearbox, clutch brakes, charging, instruments (apart from the time clock) all work well. Featured in Walter Steinemanns book Fazination of Raeder "Rolls Royce & Bentley" and the Rolls Royce & Bentley Driver Magazine in 2023, copies of both in the paperwork as well as the Instruction Manual.

Only being sold due to retirement and downsizing of our home therefore no longer having garage space for it in the future
