Current V5 present. Paperwork includes previous V5, DVLA correspondence with keeper history, duster, East Coast Run brochure, Rallye plate, photos, and Austin Taxi & Hire Car, and invoices

The vendor has provided the model of the vehicle to be a 1957 Austin FL1. Please confirm upon your own inspection.

The vendor has provided the following:

  • This 1957 Austin FL1 is a robust and highly characterful seven-seater private hire car, effectively the refined, non-taxi counterpart to the iconic Austin FX3 London cab
  • With four doors, a front bench seat, a spacious rear bench, and folding jump seats, it offers impressive versatility and authentic period charm
  • Power comes from the dependable 2.2-litre petrol engine, renowned for its durability and ease of maintenance
  • Originally designed for luxury hire work rather than street hailing, the FL1 was built with comfort and discretion in mind, featuring a dividing screen and a generously proportioned interior
  • These qualities made it especially popular for weddings, formal transport, and special occasions — a role it still suits perfectly today
  • Recent work carried out since 2023 includes a new set of tyres, a complete refurbishment of the Zenith 42VEI-8 carburettor, and new chrome door and bonnet releases, improving both reliability and presentation
  • The windscreen seal currently fitted is incorrect (last owner) and allows some water ingress; however, the correct replacement seal has been sourced and is included, requiring only fitting
  • The vehicle may benefit from a brief spray of Easy Start if left unused for several days
  • A rare and appealing opportunity to acquire a distinctive piece of British motoring history, ideal for events, private hire, or as a standout addition to any classic collection
