Current V5 present. Paperwork includes owner's manuals, various MOT history, DVLA correspondence, and invoices for work carried out.

The vendor has supplied the following:

The chassis no. age identifier ("US") indicates it was March 1978 built - the 1st cars were all registered as "Capri II" with the DVLA as Ford internally only considered the Mk3, as we know it today, to be a facelift of the Mk2. Mk3 construction began in March '78.

Only 5 previous keepers on the V5 - previously registered "1 GHW" in the 1990's with a Liverpool owner.

In 2009 the car has a full engine rebuild - has only covered approx. 1500 miles covered since the rebuild.

The body was also refreshed in 2009 - new front wings, both rear wheel arches, front panel, strut tops/inner wing repairs & outer sills were replaced & a full respray. New bumpers were also fitted.

Fitted with 2.8i Bilstein front struts with vented discs, a 14mm 2.8i rear anti-roll bar & single-leaf rear springs.

Work carried out since August 2021:-

  • Brakes - New front calipers, discs & pads (*Mintex M1144), new rear shoes, wheel cylinders, shoe fitting kit & a full brake fluid change. New braided hoses were fitted front & rear too.
  • Suspension - Fully polybushed with Superflex bushes. New OE spec track control arms. New rear shock absorbers.
  • Engine - Fully serviced - K & N replacement standard air filter, new HT leads, PAS/alternator belts & valve clearances adjusted. Radiator removed, tested & two small leaks repaired by a specialist - still the rare larger header tank version. New billet aluminum thermostat housing, 88-degree thermostat & temp sender were fitted &the cooling system flushed.
  • Fuel system - Carburettor stripped & rebuilt using genuine Webcon rebuild kit & a new power valve. Fuel tank was removed, drained, cleaned & painted. All rubber fuel hoses have been replaced with R9 spec hoses & new fuel filter fitted.
  • Ignition system - Brand new high-energy Bosch distributor & Viper dry coil from powerspark. A new & expensive battery also fitted.
  • Exhaust - Exhaust manifolds removed, that ports reamed out & painted. A full CCI exhaust fitted with 3-inch tailpipes, straight-through center silencers & no back boxes.
  • Auto Gearbox - Sump removed, cleaned, new filter fitted & re-filled with fresh ATF
  • Steering - New track rod ends & steering rack gaiters - PAS fluid drained & refilled.
  • Diff - Powder coated replacement cover fitted & refilled with Witham 80w90 oil. Original ration ID tag still fitted.
  • Heater - New heater matrix, CCI heater motor resistor, foam seals & control panel decal.
  • Interior - Seats & caret removed, cleaned, additional sound deadening installed & the inner/outer sill cavities injected with Dinitol. Front & rear seat bases stripped & re-padded by a professional upholsterer.
  • Body - A good rust-free OS was doo painted & fitted (original was rotten), the typical Capri roof bubbles around the sunroof weld repaired & repainted. Both quarters & the OSF wing also painted for a good colour match. Fully detailed by hand with a clay bar and 4 coats of wax. New door seals fitted.
  • Rustproofing - Extensively rust proofed underneath (Waxoyl) & in all cavities (Dinitol)
  • Wheels & tyres - 4 new Maxxis 185/70 HR13 tyres fitted & all 4 alloy wheels powder coated

Fitted with a very rare Ford SRT32D Turnolock radio - a standard p21 radio is in the parts box in the boot

Fitted with a Cobra alarm/immobiliser and Tracker system too.

The extensive history file includes MOT's back to January 1992 at 79,280 miles along with a huge stack of receipts for work/parts, the owner's guide/manual, a rare March 1978 Ford brochure & price guide.

In February 2023 the oil & filter has been changed again & a new set of NGK BRP6ES spark plugs fitted.
