1984 MATRA MURENA
The vendor of this 1984 Matra Murena 2.2S is the Bangers & Cash Restoring Classics team. They write:
We purchased this peculiar French motor from Mathewsons in March 2025. Over the years on the series, we’ve turned our hand to most of the big French names - Renault, Citroen, Peugeot. But when we saw A11 XSF in the cul-de-sac of a storage unit in Pickering, it qui pique la curiosité (merci Google Translate).
The Matra Murena is made from various elements from other French cars, and we were hoping for all the best bits! The Model S, which this one is, is only one of 480 ever made.
The engine was running very lumpy and the cloud from the exhaust looked like the car had smoked 300 Gauloise a day for 20 years - so we sent it down to Rad & Paul of Pallas Autos to take a look - they specialise in Citroen DS models, but really…it’s all French to us!
We haven’t done a nut-and-bolt restoration on this one, but we have ensured the car runs much leaner and cleaner.
Work includes:
It’s got a clean MOT until July 2026. Magnifique!
PLEASE NOTE: We take great pride in restoring our cars, but they are classics; they will not be immaculate, and they will no doubt need ongoing maintenance and repair. We suggest you make your own checks first.
