The vendor has provided the following:
Here at Bangers and Cash: Restoring Classics we always believed that one day we would have the money to buy a car like the 3 million dollar, 1920s race icon that is a Bugatti T35.
And finally late in 2022 we scraped together the funds to buy a car (vaguely) like the 3 Bugatti T35.
After we’d finally located the engine (it’s in the back) we felt this replica was dead right for a recommission. A bargain version of the real thing is very ‘us’ and this vehicle had real appeal.
Prolonged bidding took us to a hammer price of £7500.
With a simple 1600 Beetle engine our chosen restorer was VW-nut Jonny May of Malton, North Yorkshire. On the ramp he was impressed by a solid underside and an engine not pouring oil.
Jonny said he would happily take on the project but would do an even better job if we allowed him to take our Bugatti replica for a beach burn-up in Bridlington’s motoring festival called Race the Waves.
All good sports cars benefit from a winning pedigree and maybe it could put a few bob on the hammer price so we were more than happy for Jonny to head to the coast.
Our car and Jonny performed faultlessly on the sand beating almost everything that came up against them in the ⅛ mile drag race.
After a thorough jet wash, it was treated to mudguards, new headlights and now boasts 12 months MOT giving the new owner real peace of mind.
Work undertaken:
- New brakes - (master cylinder, wheel cylinder, drums, shoes, flexi hoses)
- Engine - service/recommission/good clean
- Oil change
- New wheels/tyres
- Headlights halogen upgrade
- Integral side light
- New gearbox mount
- Repainted
