Classic Cars – Lamborghini Countach

When Ferrucio Lamborghini went into the car business in 1963 he decided to use his birth sign the Taurean Bull as his badge design, and when it came to naming his models he connected each car with the names of fighting bulls.

However there was one exception – the Lamborghini Countach, which was launched in the 1970’s and with much to live up to with its predecessor the Miura, as a result Lamborghini produced a 5.2 Litre, 455bhp, Quad Cam, V12 Engine with a top speed of 180mph – a new super car was born, and it is now classed as a Classic Car for obvious reasons.

The objective in production of the Countach was to make a supercar that any wealthy buyer with taste but not necessarily have any racing driver skills could properly enjoy and truly appreciate over long distances, at high speeds without compromising safety and comfort. Most of all the car had to be the fastest and best car in the world, which meant that it would have to outperform any Ferrari. The reason Lamborghini wanted to beat Ferrari was that Ferrari were the ones that indirectly motivated him to move from the world of Tractors and Air Conditioning and into the world of building cars.

The first car launched by Lamborghini was in 1961 a few years later he launched the Muira in1966 and in 1971 the Lamborghini Countach prototype was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show where the world looked in amazement at its futuristic look, aggressive stance, geometrically sharp lines and vertically opening doors that looked like wings. This Classic Car was first launched in 1974, in 1978 it was revised and made even meaner and finally in 1985 the Ferrari beating beast of a machine was launched – Lamborghini had done it.
